PA powder from EOS good for aircraft applications

Production airplane parts are being directly manufactured using Selective Laser Sintering

Paramount PDS is laser sintering parts direct from CAD models.


2 August 2007 – A range of parts for a luxury, commercial aircraft manufacturer are being produced in the US by laser-sintering polyamide powder direct from CAD models.

The components are rapid-manufactured by Paramount PDS, based in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, from a flame retardant polyamide powder developed by German company EOS.

Paramount has been producing parts in PA 2210 FR for eight months with no problems from the very first run. It is also satisfied with the properties of the parts, which demonstrate negligible loss in material strength compared with unfilled polyamide.
